When solving lighting for school premises, we do not only design lighting for classrooms, but we also offer lighting for other spaces, including gyms. In all cases, specific standards for each room type must be observed.
CLASS LIGHTING
For class lighting is not only important the intensity of illumination, but also the uniformity and the glare factor (UGR). In order to full fill requirements of the standards, it is very important to choose suitable luminaires.
Grid luminaires are the usual standard for use in school classrooms with ideal light distribution. Thanks to the scattering on the aluminum grid, glare is reduced while maintaining high efficiency.
An interesting and increasingly popular new solution is the use of luminaires with individual optics. We can design these luminaires such that while maintaining high efficiency (up to 163 Im/ W) the glare index is so low that it is suitable for use in school classrooms. The added value is the low weight of the luminaire and the possibility of both recessed and surface-mounted installation.
For an ideal lighting system for school classrooms, there must be a luminaire with an asymmetrical radiation characteristic for vertical illumination of the blackboard surface.

GYM LIGHTING
In addition to the correct prevention of glare, intensity and uniformity of lighting, it is also necessary to take into account the mechanical resistance of these luminaires.
Luminaire from the MODUS MEGAL series with micro prismatic cover and certification DIN VDE 0710-13 is an ideal solution for areas with the possibility of intervention with sports equipment, The granting of this certification involves testing the luminaire for many times more demanding mechanical stress than to which it will be exposed in real use. This ensures maximum safety when used for lighting sports venues. The test consists of 36 ball hits from 3 directions at a ball speed of 60km/h.
In addition, the micro prismatic structure of the mechanically resistant polycarbonate cover reliably reduces the glare factor UGR.
FACILITIES - CHANGING ROOMS, CORRIDORS, TOILETS,...
Due to the dynamic nature of the operation in the school premises, we recommend choosing easy-to-wash luminaires, preferably with a higher IP.
The standard with higher IP 54 protection, particularly suitable for corridors and changing rooms, is the MODUS KX luminaire with the option of both surface-mounted ‘and suspended * mounting. The semi-opal cover ensures pleasant and even light distribution. For this reason, the MODUS KX luminaire is also suitable for those rooms where the grid is not a suitable solution, but depends on good light distribution. Typically, such a space is represented by kindergartens.
Similarly, the MODUS BRSB luminaire is suitable for use in corridors and changing rooms, very popular, for its practical shape and higher IP44 protection, it is used in sanitary areas.
An interesting and elegant solution for background areas or narrow corridors can be a 1000 Im variant of the MODUS ED luminaire with one LED module.
We recommend it especially to raster ceiling, for its extremely fast and trouble-free installation as an effective replacement for downlights.
