Trevos Industrial Lighting is ready for BIM

At TREVOS, we are passionate about innovations and new trends in bulkhead luminaire design. We embrace the world-wide initiative BIM (Building Information Modelling), considering it to be a significant step towards Industry 4.0-related increased efficiency and flexibility in all stages of building project creation.

We have created BIM representations of our luminaires for the two most popular BIM modelling platforms and made them available for you to download.

1. GRAPHISOFT ARCHICAD

PLUGIN - recommended option.

After installation, the plug-in extends the menu in the TREVOS luminaire selection with convenient filtering capabilities.

Information about the luminaires is always up to date.

BIM IN A NUTSHELL

Building information modelling (BIM) is a work process during which information is created to be subsequently shared by participants in the building lifecycle (architects, designers, suppliers, building managers, and investors). More importantly, BIM is the inevitable future of construction concept that is becoming increasingly common and required in many countries of the world. The basic interface used by architects and designers to manage project information is a BIM model. It is basically a virtual 3D model of a building consisting of individual elements (“smart” BIM objects) used in the building – bricks, roof, furniture…and TREVOS luminaires. All of the elements are specified by parameters. And these elements may be assigned characteristics in exactly the same way they are defined in product sheets and technical sheets. Further information on BIM is available on Wikipedii and YouTube

In BIM process, a specialized software for light calculation still needs to be used (e.g. Relux, BuildingDesign, Dialux).

BIM is now being implemented by a number of EU countries that have made it mandatory for public building projects. This means if you are looking to participate in public tenders, BIM will become a necessity. The currently effective legal conditions in abroad are provided below.

LEGISLATION ABROAD

  • Directive 2014/24/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 26 February 2014 on public procurement, which has been effective since February 2014, recommends member states require BIM during public procurement.

  • Russia plans to make BIM mandatory after 2020.

  • BIM has been mandatory in Great Britain since 2016.

  • Australia plans to make BIM mandatory for large-scale and complex infrastructure projects.

  • North America has recorded an increase from 17% in 2007 to over 70% today.

  • In Singapore, BIM was applied to 10% of projects in 2008, 25% in 2011 and a growth to 80% is projected for 2015.
